Mad

I just came from windspear hills and defeating firkaag (chapter 3)(sneaky dragon going after my main character all the time.) and saved the girl. Im just playing for kicks with reloads, core difficulty BUT with spell50, tactics and all other mods that would make my life interesting.

Interesting it was indeed. Upon arriving on trademeet, this guy just shows up and demands my celestial fury! I know alot of you guys know him already. Of course this was my first time playing tactics and finishing it. So technically it was my first time meeting this guy. I am still in chapter 3 and havent faced bodhi as I am still finishing all my quest left and right. Now, thinking he is just one guy after all, I decided to test him to see how strong he really is. Ye gadz! he was wiping out my characters one by one with his stupid acid splash. It was stupid really on how chessy he really was when Crend cast an insect plague on him so every point of damage, there was a acid splash on crend. Suffice to say that crend died in a very painful acidic manner and yet even though dead, my enemy still fires melf arrows on his dead body. How bad/chessy is that? and even dispelling spells get acid splash. whoa!

What was so funny is that after several reloads of me dying all the time. I decided to try a new tactic. I am the hero of trademeet afterall. So plans was set in motion the minute he shows up, i rush out of his way while him making his pretty speech with haste spell cast upon us. Then, we distracted him with cannon fodder like the militia guards! . Suffice to say he was killing everyone in sight with his stupid cloudkill and stuff. Now with me? I am sitting in a corner buffing up. For some reason he always knows where I am, I decided to move in another area where other guards can help me. On the way, stupid guy cast cloudkill trying to kill me only to kill standby's, squirrels and such. Thank goodness though I got lucky in dispelling his cheessy tactics and with greater malison + held spell. I finally got thru his somehow limitless protection from magical weapons. He has a nice katana which i am using now though. Still.. This guy killed half of the local population in trademeet and all the militia guards/captains/wizards. Crazy!

I guess that is tactics for you eh?

Well... considering a top-level ToB Sorcerer can vapourise everybody standing outside in Tradesmeet in... *calculates* 3 rounds, Kurio does not seem that bad in comparision.

Kuroisan is tough, so congratulations on killing him. He casts many pretty powerful spells (PFMW, Fireshield...). What I usually do is to Breach him 3 times (I think that then he runs out of protective spells), and wait for his protections to wear off. Great job tough.

Kurio is always fun to fight with, and you did make full use of the Tradesmeet guards.
Congratulations on your victory - but SHEEESH, what did your Rep drop to by the time you were done. I would imagine you are now the PARIAH of Trademeet rather than the Hero.

Just for the record, Kuriosan carries 5 scrolls of Protection from Magic Weapons (IIRC). He was far too powerful for my assassin and his party after I retrieved Celestial Fury, so I finally just decided to use CNTRL-Y (Hey, I'm a Neutral Evil Assassin - do you really expect me to fight fair? ). So my assassin got some very nice scrolls for Edwin to use on the party in addition to a seriously BUTT-KICKING sword.

My solo bard has an upgraded version of Zerth's Dakkon Blade that he has been carrying. I was surprised that didn't spawn Kurioson. I also used Shadowkeeper to give him a Bag of Holding that - unknown to me - was pre-filled with several very nice items, including yet another katana that I know should spawn Mr. K. (Malakar +2). So I cast all my buff spells (including the Fireshield tactic), equipped Malakar, and waited....and waited.....and waited.

But he never showed up. So I guess I'll have to go the Guarded Compound and THAT part first before I can get Captain K. to show up. I don't really plan to use Sanchu for my bard (although that regeneration and acid backlash is really nice)....I just want to see if I can defeat him with a solo character (without killing any innocent bystanders in the process. )

Since Cloudkill was effective against the improved Shadow Druids, I would imagine that Kurioson had to wipe out more than a few civilians and innocent merchants with his Cloudkills too...and my understanding was that the death of innocents were on your head whether you directly caused their death or not.

Well, anyway, allow me to offer DOUBLE CONGRATULATIONS for killing Captain K. and not losing any Rep in the process.

Nope. That's a little trick to kill people you don't like; cast a Pit Fiend and let it go beserk. Your Reputation won't suffer at all.
