i am going to play the game solo on maximum difficulty for a chalenge, and i wondered what the best dual class combination for this is, i thought something like a theif/cleric would be interesting.

Well you'll need a theif. Definatley!
I think a theif\mage, cos cleric spells are only good in partys, and your magic can protect you from the monsters double dammage thing. ------------------ [insert witty phrase here] |

Well, you dont need any healing.
Im playing a solo sorceror, and i dont need healing, cause i have lots of potions. Right now i have in my inventory 13 potions of extra healing, and thats enough for me . I have completed all the city quests (including, the eyeless cult, the shadow lich, the elemental lich in the bridge) EXCEPT for Kangaxx and the Twisted Rune. When i finish these two, im gonna go outside (probably to Umar to get Valygar and the stronghold). OH, im level 17 now (about 2.500.000 xp i have, probably i will remove the xp cap). I would recommend a sorceror, but since most of people dont seem to like it, it would depend on if you are removing the xp cap or not. If you are, you should take the fighter/mage/thief i think. If not, just take a thief/mage or something like this. I think a mage is completely necessary, without one you wont be able to kill wizards, liches etc ------------------ "Let my spells do the dirty work" Ertai, High Sorceror of the Holy Flame |

Just a thought but when you get to Athlkta(sp) how do you fight bearing in mind you cant use magic in the streets?. I know you can buy a permit from the Cowled Wizards for 5000 but I didnt have that much money when I came out of Irenicus' dungeon.

I started a Figther/Thief/Mage and i'm found this to be really amusing.
Not so difficult as i thout for you get a LOT of potions when you don't have to share them with others.. The money issue are not that much of a problem either actually because a lot of artefacts and enchanted weapons you don't have use of can be sold insted of saving them for future. One thing is sure though.. One have to be fast in action cause those creatures sure hit hard on Insane skill ------------------ |

I finnished the game with a fighter/mage/thief at normal difficulty, but I didn't rest much at all then. It took 18 days to complete the game. I think I should have played at insane difficulty, because there were a lot of disapointing battles. If you play a fighter/mage/thief, you will have no trouble at all.
Anyway, I agree that you need to be a thief. Maybe you should dual a swashbuckler to a mage and solo. You need the thief-skills, and being a mage makes you able to use all wands and scrolls. |
