This scene took 15 hours to render (set it to render when I went to sleep) , and the final shot is amazing. This is a shot from the beginning of the movie. Here is a screenshot of it.
Below is the original movie (a screenshot here) from my 1993-1994 Starfleet Missions Episode I: Look at the difference between the two! LOL!!!! I've come a long way...lol geez. [ 05-13-2004, 04:08 AM: Message edited by: Ziroc ]

That's pretty slick. Are you rendering at 15 fps or 30 (29.997 for NTSC but who wants to nitpick)? I've found that rendering 15 frames per second and encoding at 30 (each frame used twice) gives no visible difference in the video while cutting rendering time in half.

I render at a full NTSC 29.997, and it's 16:9 widescreen as well. I had to rerender that damn scene because of a raytrace issue-- (frames 242-303 were keyed to OFF) ugh. but I corrected it and now it looks great! I'm dropping in the special effects and overlays now.
I'll be burning this to DVD's when I'm done, as well has burn all the original uncompressed cuts for possible future use too. 15 hours for 550 frames. And that is like 18 seconds of footage. lol..

15 hours? Whoa! Well it was definately worth it because that screenshot is amazing - brilliant modelling and textures. I assume that as a movie is just a series of pictures, we won't have to wait 15 hours per 18 seconds . Great work, Z - keep it up

LOL quite an improvement, Ziroc! I thought I knew that scene from somewhere but I couldn't quite put my finger on it - now I know! BTW, Z, is there an option to turn down the speed of Starfleet Missions Episode 1? The text runs too fast for me I can't read it

Mo'Slo and other such slowdowns should do it, I suppose. This one is free.
Looking great, Z [ 05-13-2004, 04:47 PM: Message edited by: Gnarf ]
