The problem's like this- recently, I was forced to reinstall NWN (with SoU) because... well, the main reason was that the game was plain *beep*ed up. Anyway, fine install everything works... until I try to actualy run the thing. I get the "what do you want to do" menu, I click on Play, and I get the screen with an eye... and then nothing happens. Can anyone help? Please?

I have seen this type of problem come up before.

#1. Did you reinstall the patch after installing the game? I
#2. Is your screen resolution matching your desktop res.? This was one of my problems.
#3. Have you searched our thread archives for related issues? I would do tihs for you now if it were not late for me tonight.

Keep us updated! Maybe somebody else can offer other ideas.

#1)
Yes, I was unable to even get to that menu without patching.

#2)
As closly as possible (1024 by 768 pixels)- some wasted space at the bottom an right, but the closest match possible.

#3)
I'll do this in a sec... what do you think I should search for?

And yes, I got got them (the drivers) recently.

I just checked using Ctrl-Alt-Delete- "nwmain" is running in the background, and if I try to close it, the computer crashes.

Never mind- re-installing the whole thing in a band new directory seems to work

[EDIT] Grrr... it seemed to work. Patching the game to version 32 seems to cause the problem. Any ideas why?

I hear on Wednesday that a new patch will be released to compensate for the arrival of HotU. I would advise waiting until then and getting that patch, and see if that takes care of the problem. I had heard that certain patches caused trouble for a small percentage of people. Hopefully the newer one will treat you better.

Isn't that just for those who have HotU (two patches, one for HotU and Sou, and one for HotU but no SoU)? Or is that just the beta of that patch? If not, I'll have to wait until the 19th, at the earliest- it could be as late as the 26th.
