I decided to explore and map the second part of the game, between Ishad N'ha
and Brimloch Roon, found a griffin, found the writ and then ran into a bunch of tormented souls and a wailing banshee. [cringe] I had a mage with the Call of Home spell and decided to get the heck out, especially as one of them was casting Face of Death. After heading back out, I was just north of Shurugeon Castle and I saw the same mobs heading towards me. Do these things have the same/greater tracking ability than mantraps?? Are they part of a quest or something that I should complete the Boogre prison, Dragon Spire etc first before going there, or can I blow them away and continue on my merry way without it affecting anything? (I did notice, from a previous save, there were some graves deeper down where they were) thanks in advance |

Now you know why the unofficial motto of the W&W forum is...
Not all monsters will stick around when you run into town, but many will. It's better to dispatch them as soon as you can, before you find yourself fighting much larger numbers of creatures. I mean, all you need when you're trying to take out those banshees and other undead is for a salad or two to join the fray, don't you? Or perhaps a couple of mountain spiders, or a few packs of worgurs... or perhaps all of them at the same time! Someone long ago posted about an exciting time at Shurugeon Castle. I'll see if I can dig that up...

[rofl]
With the exception of my first couple of times venturing out from Ishad N'ha, I've never had a problem with the mantraps or creeping spores. (Other than finding out lightning doesn't affect spores, and that mantraps would follow you if you ran back to the town) These tormented souls and howling banshee though.... oy vey. Walking across the hills and dales towards the town. They must have very good tracking skills. I just don't want to take them out unless it doesn't cause a problem, i.e. walking into a place where there are 3-4 floating ghoulies "guarding" some graves, kind-of sounds like there is a plan/quest/something behind it? |

Actually, there was probably supposed to be something more to it. When you find Jathil, he mentions that he's looking for a graveyard... and that's where you run into those critters.
And as I think about those who hunt you down, I suspect that it's planned encounters that will follow you, and not random ones. So things like the salads, the undead up in the northwest there, the griffin... they're supposed to be there every time, so they keep tracking you. Random encounters just get replaced.

These spirits aren't too dangerous Save the game. Take the banshee first, then service the others.

Cool. Thanks for the help.
I'd seen that Jathil walking around but had run away thinking he was for later. (I like to explore/map but that sometimes means running into things too soon |

Jathil's just waiting around for a delivery... you'll find that out later, I suspect.

Jathil also carries an ankh that you might want to purchase or pickpocket from him (remember to save first).

Willow, Spirit Eye only shows things on areas you've explored. I have it on all the time because it is so useful, even for when another of the group "detects"/senses a mob has as one just hits the map button and looks for the red dots and .... banzaaaaaaai!
