Hi!
A little cross-post here to get things in the right place.

Maybe there's someone on this board that could help me out with a minor but irritating problem. First, the game runs fine in 1024 with my GeForce GTS when bumblin' around in the woods, but occasionally when entering buildings in the cities it crashes to desktop. And I actually have to reboot the comp. to get the game workin' again.

I'm running a Athlon T-bird 1200, ABIT KT7A PC133 MB, 256 MB RAM (cas 2 latency), SB-Live, DX8a with slowed down graphic acceleration. Also, I've patched DX8a so that the debugger is now turned off! I have, as far as I know, the latest drivers for my cards.

Anyone with similar problems that've found a solution?

Hi all!
I've been trying to improve the performance of w&w on my pc for a very long time, but the best I managed to achieve is a mediocre performance in the 640x480 hardware resolution. My PC:

-PentiumIII 700Mhz
-256 mb RAM
-about 1,5 GB free HD space
-Hercules Prophet II GTS 32 MB

I am using a very old driver (I think it's one from mid 2000...) because it is BY FAR the best I could find. I spent many hours installing every single driver I managed to find, but it always ended up with a horrible slow performance in every resolution. (This bad performance does also apply to the stronghold demo, with the old driver it runs pretty well, with the newer ones it's a pain...)I even tried the new unofficial patch which did't help either...
I'd appreciate any kind of help because I'm pretty desperate and just don't know what else I could do.

Thanks in advance!

Ok - I am having trouble with the buildings in the first town... Can only access the left gate, tavern, inn, armory and temple... The others just don't highlight... Why?

System Config
-------------
Athlon 1.4ghz - 256mb DDR Ram (PC2100)
Voodoo5 AGP Video - SB Live X-Gamer Sound
30gig HD (uncompressed) - Pioneer 16x40 DVD Player
Sigma Hollywood+ DVD Decoder - 3com 10/100 Ethernet
16x10x40 CD-RW

OS - Windows XP Professional
DirectX - Whatever comes with XP (8.0a I think - ugh)

Any clues as to why I can't access these buildings?

It's your O/S. XP and 2000 both have problems with the town AVI files. Here's the fix:

Go to the following site: http://www186.pair.com/vdub/

Once you're there, download Virtualdub, install it, and then load the file "townmsk1.avi" from the "Townavi" directory in your Wizards & Warriors folder into Virtualdub. Save it with the "Save as old-format AVI" option with a new file name. You will get back a 32MB file. Close out Virtualdub and then rename the new file townmsk1.avi (over the old file). Do the same procedure to the other two town mask files.
