A co-worker of mine was in the middle of a move and talking about throwing out the huge box with his old Commodore 64 and accessories that had been taking up space for so long. I did the right thing and smacked the blasphemer and releived him of the box. I won,t try and compare the games to what we have now, but it is alot of fun playing some of those old games I have such fond memories of. He had alot the games I used to play and even the same copy of Ultima Quest Of The Avatar.Ultima 3 I believe? I know the fun won,t last long, especially with my current pc sitting beside it. I could not let him just throw it away. I also tend to be a bit of a packrat and considered this quite a find. Complete system and those classic games.
LOAD"*",8,1 ring any bells?
If that does, perhaps an old commodore user out there can refresh my memory. Does anyone remember what the command line is to bring up the games list/menu on one of those disks with multiple games on it.
Thanks in advance.

Well I had a commodore with tape recorder, oh it was great, you had to wait 20 minutes for a game to load and if you were lucky it would actually not freeze up the computer. oh glory days
But I'm sorry, I don't know, but I remember shift + runstop to start the tape...

You could probably find some info on it here

Ah well, I never had a Commodore 64, but your comment about LOAD"*" reminded me of the Spectrum days of my youth. I had a copy of The Hobbit - text adventure with horrid blocky 16 colour fixed pictures by way of 'eye candy' - and the damn thing would never load - listening to the whine of the cassette player for half an hour, then having the blooming thing crash at the last buuuuuuuuuur-biiip.

Thanks for the link. I think the cassette/tape version was the Vic 20
I had the much more reliable disk drive version with 5 1/4 disks. It weighed about 20lbs and we had to replace ours almost yearly :

LOL! I had the exact same game with the exact same problem - never worked it out!
My fav game for the C64 would have to be the plane one where you had to shoot down helicopters, other planes, tanks and the like (can't remember the name) but the game that I played most was Ceasers Travels (this game taught me how to read before I went to school) You know the cat one.
We got rid of ours just last year in a garage sale.

Ahhhhh, yes, the good ole C64 ...

If you want to annoy a C64 owner (not that there are many of them left), try this command ...

POKE 808,225 ( Enter )

It turns off the keyboard.

Nope it was a 64, with a tape recorder. My dream was actually to get one of those diskdrives and I almost bought one... for an outragous sum...(probably 150$ which is probably 250 today) but my parents wouldn't allow it...
