yoshimo died. i'd dropped him from my party ages ago then when i walked into the CC he died straight away. anyone know why.

Had you taken him to Spellhold you would have found out. You can if you want to, put on boots of speed and rush into the CC and talk to him. Allow him into your party, he will die and you can ressurect him. There is still a small plot concerning Yoshi's demise but I won't spoil here, although he must be dead to gain XP from it.
