And the song is totally unrelated to this bike poll! Bicycle, that is. Not motorbike.

Question 3 does not include my answer, as it was in the 1990s that I last rode a bike.
Question 6 is not detailed enough by saying country/area. My city does have adequate biking trails along the roads in most places, but not in my immediate neighborhood.

Apologies for the lacking answers, but I already had six questions, I figured that if I added too many options, the darn thing would be too HUEG.
I guess that we can say "area" counts as "city and environs." |

I have not been on a bike in a very long time. I do not even have one.
I do ride the bike in the Gym. If that counts.

Too bad you live in Canada Mack, you could have my exercise bike LOL. It's great but my right knee says it's not so great So are you still doing the gym thing eh? I'm up to 100 sit-ups a day now Oh, and if you haven't before, check out those resistance cords they have out now (found bunches at Sports Authority). It's like having a gym in your house without the equipment! I really love them and have found many dormant muscles LOL.

I have to admit, so far the replies to the poll are surprising me, considering that most of the members here seem to be American, I would have guessed fewer people who had bikes. I was under the impression that riding bicycles and such was less prevalent in the US.
Both due to worse infrastructure for it(From what I hear), and because cars seem so loved over there. Am I mistaken, or do we just have a rare subset of Americans posting here? |

I would like to have a bike in the house. Would be nice on the days where I have no more than a hour to myself.

The Netherlands is nirvana for bycicles. Our country is small and flat, so everyone owns a bike. Just don't bring it to Amsterdam.

By preferred method of transport I understood that question as "which would I prefer"...so flight via superpowers would be my no.1 choice

I've got a Giant Farrago, a hybrid mountain-racer which I loosely term 'my silver machine' (yes, the Hawkwind song) .
It cost me more than my mates first cheapo bomb cars from back in uni and is an absolute joy to ride. I don't own a car, so having a decent bike in great working order is a priority for transportation. Whilst I'll take the bus or Public Transport where I have to, my bike is a well loved bundle of mechanics that I couldn't live without. It responds intuitively to my every pedal and softens the most jarring of bumps. Don't take me for a fitness maniac however - I still huff and puff up hills slowly like everyone else.
