Question Mark

congrats and good luck!

nathan (morguerat) planned to ask me during a gmaing session by taping the ring to a note card. but he was afraid iw ould trample his books jumping on him in excitement. i don't know that i would have done that....but he waited til we got back to his barracks room and got down on one knee and everything. not terrible romantic by most standards, but with both of us being homebodies it was perfect. in a place we were alone. i did not cry but i did give him a great big hug and kiss. and of course a yes. he was not nervous either, or so he says.

good luck!

Thank you all for the good luck wishes!!!

She said Yes!!!!

It went really well. She didn't suspect a thing even though all her friends said, "He is taking you to the restaurant in the Calgary Tower? He is going to propose." She didn't believe it because it has been awhile since we did something nice together, and it sounded reasonable. I have to say I was impressed with my chosen location. You sit in these very private cushy half circle booths facing the windows on a rotating platform over the city, the table had candles, it was dusk outside(lights from city to enhance mood), service was great, it was very romantic. Not a place I would go to often only for special occasions because it is one of those restaurants that serve the butter as little round balls in a dish. By far the most fancy restaurant I have ever eaten at.

Any way after the main meal I pulled out the table, got down on one knee and said "Will you marry me!", She almost started crying and said "Yes, of course".

Perfect!!!

Oh there is a somewhat funny story to go along with it. What to do with the bulky ring box? I had it placed in jacket pocket as I did not want a bulge in my pants, so we get to the restaurant and the lady says, "Can I take your jacket." I am like "No Thank you!", as she is taking my fiancé (I love saying this now) jacket I manage to shift the ring from my jacket to left front pants pocket while no one is looking. "Phew!!" Then I say "I guess it is OK, for you to take my jacket." (Getting to diner without the ring would have been a disaster.) When we are seated we are sitting in this booth very close to each other, she is on my left. ("Darn it!") She could discover the ring in the pocket especially since she placed her hand on my leg telling me how lovely everything is. I create a diversion by pointing out something in the city to divert her attention and swiftly shift the ring to the other pocket. So she never did find out about the ring until I really wanted to pull it out.
