Arvon,
at a guess I would say you did the same thing I did when I first started playing, putting points into both Fire and Stone spell classes which would give you probably something like FlameStrike and Meteor, approximately at level 7. I had the same problem, but didn't get as far as even the Naga when I realised I needed to change the way I was playing. After a few experiments I've now worked a group to level 5 while still in the Valeia section, without having killed the 'beasties' at the toadem or taken the path to Scabban. One thing you might want to do if you start from scratch, or even go back a few save-games, is set the monster generation to "Frequent". This will increase your experience some, without resorting to going out on sorties with, say, 2-4 people at a time so they get more experience. Depending on how far you go back I'd say definitely go spank Rumphy plenty of times for his experience. (Banshees don't appear often enough at that point in the game for my liking, and Asylum ghouls, while nice, their 'vomit' can cause wasting disease which ended up in one of my chars losing a spirituality point! Hope this helps. |

If you don't want to reload, try to take out the priests before attacking Ellysia. Just run up and hide in the hallways after casting a powerful spell at her. When her priests come after you, hit the lead one with a Burning Haze, or even Flamedrop works well. That way the front guy can't do anything. Then start launching Flamestrikes and Elemental Blasts at them. And during the time you're launching spells, shoot arrows, throw knives, shurikens, darts, whatever at them. When you've weakened them sufficiently, head over into melee, and chop them up. Often I kill Elyssia before all of her priests are done with this method! Give it a shot and then go back and train your skills in the guilds. Guild training is a big must in this game, you won't get buy without it and with it, you'll destroy your enemies. If you still can't beat her, then go back to a previous save and train. Good luck!

Thanks all. I still trying to figure out the Guilds. All of my peeps are members of their correct guild. But I don't see much change in things when I try to use the trainning option. I just says 'In Trainning' and I get no improvement. I've looked in the books...but there's not much (any) help there.
Oh well back to the wars... Again thanks for the help Arvon

In the guilds you may only train once per guild each time you've gone up a level... So that's probably why you get the "In Training" message.

quote:Something come to mind here. Someone, above said, to get all the trainning and levels in magic before I try Old Double Ugly. That I won't have a level 7 Stone magic till I get to level 20 for my character. Am I missing something? I'm sure I am. What am I missing?

Hi Arvon.
The comment you are referring to was by "the young one". I think the context he was talking of, was levelling but not focussing on one specific spell class i.e. assigning skill points to Sun & Stone and then picking a spell from one of the two classes. Also, as you have probably seen, above Spell Level 4, when you assign Skill points, the % given becomes very small, which is why you should train a specific class, such as Stone, in the guild each time you level - unless your mages are not 18 int yet. Hope this helps. |

I bumped a thread called "What's Your Most Creative Solution?" that may offer you some help.
That fight was, for me, the toughest yet the best in the whole game. Best of Luck Arvon! |
