Barder whistled at the amount of money Jas was laying on the counter, and quickly snatched it up, as if he were afraid the pine ledge would eat it. He then filled a mug to the brim with ale from one of the wooden kegs behind the bar. He lay the mug on the bar and looked around his inn. Locke was playing cards, as usual, emptying the pockets of anybody idiot enought to face him. Lynae, she'd already run off to Gods knew where. The door creaked open and his attention snapped to the side. In walked Arrakis Ravenwood.

Arrakis sighed as he entered the inn, taking a deep breath, then looking around for his sister. His brow raised as he saw the group, coming to his own conclusions. He traced his thumb across the scar over his right eye once, then paced over to the couch. He cleared his throat and prepared a confused smile. "Hey there little one."

Chani looked up at her brother, becoming slightly more confident with his presence. Nestled close to Deiter, she inquired to Arrakis. "Did Larry make it up there all right?"

Arrakis nodded, unclamping a distasteful jaw. "Yeah. He found it fine." His deep blue eyes traced to Mistral and he took a painfully stiff step backward. The scythe on his collarbone began to burn a hole through his shirt. He hissed near inaudibly, then shook his head and turned back to his sister. The glow faded. "So Chani..." He tried to lighten the mood. "This that obnoxiously wonderful guy you were talking about?"

She nodded bashfully, her cheeks blushing faint crimson. She hid her head in Deiter's shoulder, avoiding Arrakis' taunting gaze.

...Finishing up, he turned to wash his hands in the wash basin. He grabbed what he supposed to be soap, as it at least smelled nice, and cleaned up. Leaving the Latrine, he was surprised to find that this Arrakis guy was nowhere around. Exiting the premises, and walking back to where he'd left he wife was also troubling. Nobody was around! Looking about and seeing a group of people afar off, Larry sprinted that way, hoping to catch up, as he had been left behind. He could not shake the sticky feeling of people watching him in disgust. After all...he was human and this was an elven settlement. He hoped that this was the only reason that people mentally spat at him.

Jas grabbed the mug of ale in front of him. Instead of drinking it, he just stared at his reflection. Tired green eyes stared back. "I'm being an old fool..." His nutty grin returned, and he picked up his mug. Now where is that grandson of mine. It wasn't hard to find Deiter in the almost empty tavern. Walking up to small group at end of the couch he coughed. "So how is our fragile friend doing?"

Deiter looked over at Chani's red face, and grinned. "Obnoxious is a new one." He laughed softly then turned at Jas' question. "She seems to be doing better. I'm not sure why she fainted though..."

Jas nodded, "Could of been heat stroke. Was pretty hot out today..." He drummed his fingers on the mug thinking to himself. Heat stroke.. gah! It's this place and certain people here... His eyes wandered over to Chani. He watched her for few seconds then looked over at Arrakis. It has to be her or both of them. Mistral didn't seem all that happy to see Chani.

He watched Jas study the other two half elves. Something was wrong, he could feel it. "Jas, can I talk to you outside?" Seeing the old elf nod, he let go of Chani and gave them an apologetic smile. "We'll be back." They walked a little ways from the tavern in silence. "You know something about why Mistral fainted."

Jas squinted from the light hitting his eyes. The orange light from the setting sun casting shadows on his face. "Don't worry yourself about it. You aren't meant to know everything and I doubt you need to know this.

Deiter groaned as he watched his grandfather. "That just made me have more questions. You're a stubborn old elf, I'm surprised you aren't out flaming the trees out here..." He said the last with a grin.

"Deiter my boy, If I set these trees on fire you know how many rangers I would have on my scrawny arse?" Jas laughed at the amused look on his grandson's face. "Ah, Deiter, you may find out, though it would be better to leave it unsaid here. Now you better get yourself back inside that tavern."

"Where are you going? Not to set trees on fire or bug those warders..."

"Those warders are a bunch of stiffs... I'll just be wandering around the village. Can't a old elf have some alone time?" Jas laughed again then started to walk off.

Mistral

Her eyes remained stubbornly closed, her breathing irregular and the lip muscles twitching every so often. To all who gazed upon her pale face, it was clear that there was an inner struggle that she was putting up. Even her eyeballs seemed to be shifting in their sockets, despite the closed eyelids.

Feverish and perspiring, her body alternated between bouts of iciness and heat. No sound escaped her lips, as if she was defiantly seeking to reveal her true emotions, even in the realms of subconsciousness...

Chani sighed. Arrakis had gone to talk to Locke. She was now eyeing Mistral from the corner of her eye. The scythe on her wrist glowed faintly. She watched her face contort, feeling kinship. She felt she knew somehow what Mistral was going through, of meaningful dreams and confusing feelings. She sat on the sofa across from the one she lay on, sitting and staring and waiting for Deiter to return. She missed him again already! He'd only been gone for a minute!

Maverick was wandering the dirt paths of Ravenwood in shameful contemplation. Nobody else was out, and that was for the best. The shadows were his only comfort. He kept his black eyes to his boots, not wanting to make eye contact with anybody. He'd be surprised if anybody knew he'd hung around, the way he'd been lurking. Suddenly he bumped into somebody, stumbling back nimbly and instinctively shielding his face, as if afraid whoever he'd bumped into would hit him. The face was unfamiliar. It was an old, equally contemplative moon elf. He straightened, clearing his throat and trying to look questioning. "Who are you?"

Jas didn't answer the other moon elf right away. Now this is interesting... another moon elf... "Who am I? People call me Jas, and who are you?"

He shook his head slowly with an amused look. Jas was certainly an odd elf. Ah well, as long as he doesn't torch anything. He went inside shortly after.

Larry neared the area of people and saw what the commotion was about.
It was Mistral!
Quickly making his way to her side, he kneeled down aside her and softly asked, "Mistral? Are you capable of hearing and answering me?"

Looking up to the others, he inquired, "What has befallen here? Did anyone see anything?"

Deiter went back over to the couch. A few minutes later he heard the door open. Larry walked in and knelt down next to the couch. Hearing Larry's question, he answered. "She fainted a few minutes after we met up with Chani." He watched Mistral on the couch and wondered on what caused her to faint.

Maverick eyed the moon elf warily. In spite of being half moon elf himself, he'd never seen one. After a moment of rude staring he shook his head with an apologetic lopsided smirk, and offered a hand to shake. "Maverick."

Chani shook her head sadly and shrugged. "We don't know Larry. Right after you left she just... Collapsed." She sighed. "It was as though..." She paused awkwardly, looking at Mistral's unconcious form. "As though a spirit had slit her throat." Her grey-blue eyes suddenly went incredibly wide and her countenance drifted to shock. Her face quickly then changed to hurt anger, and with a wolf-like growl she leapt over the back of the couch, then dashed out the door: heading in the direction of the graveyard.

Two eerie howls echoed through the woods, communicating to eachother.

Watching Spree run out the door, far too fast for his human legs to keep up with her, he decided it best if he stayed here and tried not to pursue. Lightly running his fingers through his wife's beutiful lockes of hair, he remembered those strange dreams and wondered if the terror of this place ad brought this about.

What were those dreams in reference to and just what danger did they actually walk themselves into? The dreams seemed so long ago, as though they almost never really existed. For the life of him...he could not even remember a single one. He looked up and surveyed the people most close to him. Was Mistral being bewitched by one of them? How would he know?
