As a proud doomer I think I need to disseminate this little (or quite huge) gem to an interested public outside Doomworld.

This is basically the Battle at Helms Deep done for Doom. The good guys are marines and the bad guys are imps and demons.

Here is the Wad file:

http://www.doomworld.com/d_underg/id.../helmsdeep.zip

And here you can get the source port (an alternative executable) needed to run this behemoth:

http://zdoom.notgod.com/lars

And here is some music for the whole shebang:

http://www.doomworld.com/d_underg/id...i/helmsmus.zip

To run type Zdoom -file helmsdeep.wad helmsmus.wad

P.S. This might be Doom, but it still requires a pretty meaty computer or it'll lag as crazy.

Enjoy saving the Rohan with your sawed off shotgun.

P.P.S. Zdoom.exe can also be used for just playing the regular Doom(2) levels as well as a horde of other add-ons.

Bit of an odd combo but interesting nonetheless. As a fellow DOOMer, i feel quite ashamed to be asking this, but: Is there any way i can set this up to run on an XP system? I got rid of my old machine about a year ago and have been using the Doom95 launcher to quench my thirst for doom. Will this work for this mod?

back in my days of hex modification, i could've done something like that in a matter of minutes, you make a wall, chuck it full of marines, behind the wall chuck it full of monsters, maybe have a teleport system of going from one side to the other and just have th eplayer take out thousands upon thousands of chargin baddies, I did something like that with Marathon only it was the fort in starship troopers, and after you'd killed all of the rampaging bugs outsdie a gigantic bug came in through the center and you had to take it out with flamethrowers and what not, and I even had Custom Models for the enemies!

But yeah other people's level edits are kinda fun to look at, though I think the only "Impressive" one i've seen was the gigantic Skyscrapper where every room had been mapped out had a multi floor elevator and all of the floors connected to glassless windows which could have RPGs and stuff shot out of them, OH and that guy who made a working "Myst" style clock in marathon which was actually a bunch of small, thin doors with numbers textured onto them O_O and it TOLD TIME people!

DK, those sound interesting. The skyscraper in particular. Any idea where these might be found?
