Alright, madcow is caused by proteins called prions that essentially eat holes in your brain when you get them this naturally causes death. As it is a protein its untreatable as of now.

Mad Cow Disease has been traced to using slaughterhouse waste in cowfeed. Slaugtherhouse waste is the ground up remains of previously slaughtered animals so your ground beef has been eating ground beef.

The poll's simple, should the use of slaughterhouse waste be banned in all forms in the interests of public health?

Cows eat grass, always have done always will do. As soon as you start messing with mother nature you're sure to run into trouble, it's been proved time and again. It's all about £££££

Its 2 in the morning and I do not have the exact figure at hand but I thought it was about 120 people dead already. And what do you mean "only 20 people" ?

aside from that should cows be turned into canibals?

Actually, 140 or so have died from bovine spongiform encephalopathy, all but 10 in the UK.

Let me tell you I have researched "inedible rendering" plants, which is where inedible meat products are sent to be turned into marketable items. These items include:
1. tallow, used for making soap
2. meat meal, used as a protein ingredient in animal and pet food
3. bone meal, a mineral feed supplement for poultry and dairy
4. fatty acids and glycerin, used in cosmetics, auto tires, plastics, and organic chemicals.

I'd say getting away from the problem is going to be pretty hard. See my most recent article in the "Mad Cow" thread on CE to get some good info.

Oh, and I am of course against it, as I am against factory farming, as I am against killing of animals for food unless raised and slaughtered organically. Which is why I don't eat meat.
