Looking for ideas... must-see and do in London
Folks,
I'm trying to compile a list of 20 things that one absolutely must see and/or do in London, should one have the chance to visit. Anyone have any suggestions for me? TIA

Big Ben (Very Boring)
The Crown Jewels (Very Boring) The millennium wheel (Very Boring) Cant remember what else I did. I found London to be a very uninteresting place.

Madame Tussauds.
Go see a London show. Buckingham Palace (is it the changing of the guard? something like that) If you're really stuck, ride a big red bus or a London cab

Yes, do the bus and walking tour on your first day. It will give you a lot of good advice on what to see.
London is nothing short of amazing! Don't let cd tell you otherwise. Just being in the city and taking in the architecture in an experience in and of itself. Tower of London was very cool to see. Check out all the old weapons and armour. The British museum has stuff you will not see anywhere else in the world: Spend a day; or two! I really enjoyed the art gallery as well. The tube will take you anywhere you need, fast and easy. Take a day trip as well and go to Bath and visit the Roman Baths. Stonehenge is cool to see and the barrrows around there are very interesting as well. We went to Salisbury Cathedral, which has the oldest known working clock and one of the original magna carta there. Basically it's an amazing city, on so many levels. And yes, go to market square and get some theatre tickets for a show that night. There about half price that way.

Re: Looking for ideas... must-see and do in London
I spent a week in London just walking around and visiting museums, so if you go plan for a long stay. Noone has mentioned the Tate Modern yet, which is fantastic if you like art, and still amazing even if you don't. As stated before you also must visit the British Museum. I only had one day there and it wasn't enough. If you have an interest in history you'll probably want to visit it twice.
There is a ton of stuff to see, take Variol's advice and do a tour the first day, then pick a particular area near a museum you are interested in and walk around after your visit. I recommend the National Gallery, another great art museum, and after touring it you can walk through Trafalgar square and around downtown. There are all sorts of walking tours day and night, be sure to visit a tourist information booth to pick up brochures.
