I heard about there's a thief named Tomi. I'll play a fighter and I like to have a cleric or mage. I dont want a thief in my party. If I take a few thief skills that will do the trick?

Yeah, I didn't get Tomi. I just put a few skills into Disarm Traps and Search. To open chests I just have my trusty Grimgnaw (tm) handy and he does all of the dirty stuff for me. The only traps I cannot disarm are some of those Spike Traps and those Deadly Electrical Traps. Watch out for those!

I used all my henchman and did all their quest for greater experience and usefulness. The stone of recall facilitates the ease of switching between each henchman.

Tomi is really a great thief and an ok fighter to boot.
He is also a good chioce for your first henchman. I had him for the prison break quest and he saved my bacon more than once. I am going to try working with all the NPCs to finish all the quest in the game.

I'm undecided about NPC's. Spellcasters one are really stupid as I heard. So should I play as a spellcaster and got a fighter henchman?

I started out as a human fighter and gave detecting traps a few points in a couple of times when levelling up. When I got to level 10 I dualed as a rogue (I am level 2 now) and no more problems with traps. I can use magic items now and cast some (fairly basic) spells, apart from being a tough fighter. I use Grimnaw as my henchman and boy, do we crush some bones!

I'm currently playing a fighter, with a few thief levels. I have Sharwyn, the bard, as my henchwoman. She's okay. She'll cast all her spells quickly, usually wasting them, but they work from time to time. She'll cast a strenght buff that lasts a number of hours. Recently, she got haste as well. I haven't determined how long that stays on. Her bard song adds a whole number of buffs, but they only last about one fight. She's supposed to be able to sing once per level between resting, but she only sings once. Overall, she's pretty good.

I have tomi as my henchman (you can find him the temple of tyr, act 1) and his sneak attack works on balors, which kind of toned down the difficulty.
