Alrighty then. me and my dad are hacing an argument about whether its normal to have to wear a sweater in the house to lower heating bills. we need feedback, he thinks veryone would agree with him. i think only his cheap russian-jew friends will. (im not being racist, im a russian-jew myself)

Unless I'm already wearing one, I never wear a sweater in the house. Even if it's cold, they just make you too hot.

LMAO, he's a real Mainer, your father. I'm terrible with money and waste it all on video games, clothes, poker, and awful girls who waste my time, so I do wish I was a little more frugal, but even so, that idea is a little extreme in my eyes.

It's not just the expense that makes heating your house so warm you can go round in a T-shirt when it's snowing prohibitive, it's the irresponsible waste of energy. Heating (and cooling) are really bad for the environment. Now, I don't think we live in a region where you actually need heating, so we don't, though plenty of people where I live do have heaters and fires and reverse cycle air conditioners that they use during winter. However, it does get cold enough so that you do have to rug up to be warm. And it's really not a big deal to wear a sweater in the house. I don't really get why anyone would need to have their house so warm that they can go round without a sweater - it's winter! It's meant to be cold, and that's what sweaters are for!

Better isolation in your house will do alot in keeping the warmth in.

It's warm in the house until we have to install Air Con to make the air cold. We have 1 air con in each room. just imagine the electricity bill....

Insulation dude, insulation. Isolation in winter will just make you go crazy

Yeah I wear sweaters to avoid using electric heaters. But that's just because I'm a poor-ass Uni student and can't afford large electricity bills each month.

Wait till you pay the heat bill in December someday. You'll start wearing a sweater all winter...

Of course my roommates used to layer up in college to avoid turning the heat on at all if possible. Bunch of cheapskates.
