Ahh yes the infamous invisible Microsoft windows. Actually all the windows that pop-up have -Microsoft Internet Explorer. I think the ones you click and have nothing happen are not good, but not directly related to Microsoft either. I usually right-click and close them by force.

The word "Microsoft" may be just the title. It's the same for almost every window, so you can't necessarily blame MS for this one...

If you have a lot of those, however, you may want to think about spyware removal or Windows reinstallation. Those could be residual problems that can be cleaned up...

Had the same kind of pop-ups you describe. FSA speaks true stuff about getting rid of them. Personally I use ZoneAlarm to ban the buggers altogether.

I have one phrase I tell myself when dealing with Microsoft:

"At least I don't have to use a Mac!"

*giggles at LadyB's comment*

If you are worried about what applications connect to the internet get yourself a decent firewall. Kerio is free, and probably one of the best there is. Unfortunately it's not for all users since it doesn't have any auto settings such as Norton's firewall.

Zone Alarm Basic is free. And works perfectly and very user-friendly. Check out ZoneLabs for the 3.84MB free download.
