1. You will find more difficult locks. Don't worry
2. Some chests are bonified with a small amount of XP. These chests contain something improtant for the game or for some quest. You are getting XP for successful opening the chest, not for disarming the trap.

Dragon, there will be one lock coming up that will be tricky. It's difficult with level 12 lockpick skills, IIRC...

Unfortunately, it's the only one. I suspect the designers had to balance the need to make chests more secure as the game went on with the possibility that the party wouldn't have anyone with decent lockpicking skills...

Forgot to mention... with respect to your missing post, it may yet be there. Sometimes you need to refresh your browser display to see recent posts. Is your post still there?

For the record, posts generally don't get deleted around here unless they're really mean and nasty. And when they do, the poster often gets deleted as well... banned, that is. Banned for either a while (to cool down) or forever. That being said, I can't think of someone who's gotten banned in this forum. General Discussion or Current Events, yeah, but they sometimes get quite animated.

If you have questions, send a PM to Wyvern. If anyone would have deleted anything, it would have been her.

Two: Monk's Ward chest and lock to Lich's study.

Both are 5 stars and tricky even with Lvl 14 Traps & Locks. Best thing seems to have a caster with Lvl 16 Sorcery cast Disarm Trap on them, IMO.

@Dragon2005

If your missing post was something along the lines of: "...I have reached my 50th post, etc.", I did see it.

Such posts are generally considered spam, and I saw that Wyvern made a reply that she was going to delete the post once you had had time to see her reply. Apparently you did not reach that.

...

As for the locks I have always had a rogue who specializes in lockpicking, but for a solo party I generally believe that the disarm trap spell is very useful (and overlooked).

bsftcs is correct - that was your post about having made 50 posts. I congratulated you and added that we normally don't start a thread for such posts. I left the thread up for a while since you were online at the time and after about 20 minutes or so, I deleted it. It's not a big deal, we do start off topic threads from time to time but threads about the number of posts you have made are mostly just spam and to be avoided.

Important to note -- these spells work equally well (based on Sorcery skill -- i.e. casting either of these at Sorcery Lvl 6 is like opening a chest with Traps & Locks of Lvl 6).

The difference: Pry always sets off the trap, whether the chest opens or not. Disarm Trap sets it off only upon failure.

Also note: Neither of these will ever jam a lock ...
