Cora

She paces about the room restlessly, the exquisite adornments in her hair glittering in the light. Ignoring the ardent look on her visitor, she faces the window, peering out into the darkness, waiting for her daily source of news.

"My dear Cora, what is troubling you? Don't tell me you're still thinking of him."

Her hatred-filled glance silences the audacious young man, then softens. Turning to the direction of the discreet cough from her manservant ~ "Well?"

"My lady, his l... he... well, he somehow got his dinner from another person today." ~ The lad stammers, feeling his knees shaking uncontrollably at her increasingly livid face.

"Not one of my paid men?" ~ Her voice quivering, she feels the blood gushing in her blood and thundering in her ears ~ "Who is it? A male or a female?"

"F... fe.. female, my lady..." ~ Hurriedly retreating a few steps, he almost cries out in panic as he finds himselfbacked against the wall as she approaches him with that same fearsome expression.

"Calm yourself down, Cora. Anyone would think you still had feelings for that utterly pathetic cad."

Her cheeks flushed with humiliation at the drawl of her paramour, she turns on him indignantly, her voice rising in mighty crescendo ~ "Get out! Both of you!" ~ Stamping her feet once, then unsheathing her blade ~ "Get out before I kill you both!"

"Y..yes, ma'am." ~ He scoots off thankfully, his pudgy legs tearing away from the room as fast as they can.

"As you wish, my dear Cora..." ~ The caressing tone never leaves ~ "And if you should need some company later, you know where you'll find me." ~ He sweeps a dramatic bow, winks at her and exeunts.

Damn all of you! ~ She takes several deep breaths of air, closing her eyes ~ Who is she? ~ Unexplainable wave of fury this is, crashing against her heart ~ What is wrong with me? What is it that I am feeling?? ~ Confusedly, she throws herself onto the armchair and tries hard to think. To make plans for the new day...
