I dispute the Granite = igneous claim, Granite may have an igneoous origin but it is most definatley metamorphic in that it has been "changed" over millions of years, Basalt and other pyroclastic forms such as obsidian and pumice are true igneous rock. All metamorphic rocks have some other base form to start with but pressure and other factors work over time to change the nature of the material.

I also thought granite was metamorphic, the dictionary said "volcanic origin" but that would also be true if it was metamorphic... Hm...
