yup... an honest answer is that it was a lame excuse... sorry but it really is...
if she cheated on you, fine. if you cheated on her fine. you maybe a self-proclaimed, or people call you a flirt whatever... but hey, it doesn't hurt unless you really do something about it if you know what I mean... It is never too late. But then with that kind of reason to begin with it is going to be pretty hard to take her back. Hey, I have my girlfriend live on a different city, and with all the hustle and bustle of traffic and pollution here it is very tiring and stressful. I never did complain even though I knew it was far, even if my mom and I killed each other for the car... we're going very strong on 9 months going to 10, and ealier in our relationship we didn't see each other for 1 1/2 months, and yes it drove me NUTS. But I didn't give up on her like you did... In my opinion you don't love the girl because you still are concerned with yourself more than her... which is a good thing because from how you have been acting it seems that you can deal with it pretty well... sorry if I sound too bad on this... it's just my blunt 2c. |

While I would agree with Lord and numerous other posters that you did the wrong thing, there is a question that you have to answer. You may have actually done the correct thing as long as you were honest about it.
Can you handle a slight long distance thing? Not everyone can handle any type of long distance relationship. Relationships are meant to be worked on but some times there are things that one of the couple can not handle. I have been dumped twice by two girls because they could not handle the long distance thing for a little bit. If you feel that you would not be able to handle the long distance thing than you probably did the correct thing. The longer the relationship goes on the more it will hurt her when you decide to dump her. Even worse you could start seeing someone on the side and she would have wasted a part of her life on you when she could have been looking for someone for her. Just a different perspective. Beaumanoir - you did NOT do the wrong thing.
If you were not happy or were having doubts, then it is not wrong to break up. It may hurt, but there is no wrong or right to the situation. If you weren't crazy enough about this girl to wait for the few times you had together, then she is not the one for you. Life is too short for second best. Of course it hurts breaking up with someone, it is a big change to your life, but you are young and there will be others, probably there will one day be someone you are crazy about!
