Ok, I defeated Krogg (sp?) or whatever his name is and I have the pass amulet but I have no idea where to go now. I've been over all the caves (north and east) twice and can't get to the other section in the east cave. Please tell me I'm just missing something obvious.

If you mean you just defeted King Skrogg, you should see a bridge (west of the room) that takes you to the eastern section.

You mean the fire giant king? OK, the entrance to the rest of the complex is somewhat tricky there indeed, and VERY easy to miss. Basically when you are entering the room, where you killed the fire giant king, go to right far corner, the door is there. It's somewhat deep in the wall, and when looking at it from almost any angle, it sort of gets "lost" behind the wall textures and can simply be missed. However, it's there, in the corner.
