It was a dark and rainy day and Jolleth Wintersmite had a few more errands to run before heading out on his journey with Gorion, his step father. Jolleth loved his step father but had no idea who his real father was and not much was talked about the subject. It was exciting to be heading out of candlekeep because his half-elven side desired to be closer to the forest as opposed to the citadel with its shelves of books that had an old musky smell to them. He was a fairly decent mage, although still a novice he had memorized the spells of magic missile, shocking grasp, and orb of air in his short studies. Shocking grasp was his favourite because he once used it on his pet cat giving her a nasty surprise much to Jolleth's delight. However he had mastered the spell now and it was no longer to be used in parlour tricks because it was quite deadly and would easily kill a kobold.

It was about noon and already Jolleth had done many of his duties, cleaned out the rats in the warehouse, helped a neighbours cow, a delivered a sword to a guard who had one to many ales the night before. He had just come back from the inn after loading himself up with supplies and decided to stop off at the priest quarter's to see if he could say goodbye to some of the priest before meeting up with Gorion. Some of these priest had healed his cuts and wounds when he and Imoen would be up to mischief. Jolleth entered the priest guild but it was no friendly welcome he received but "Die, you little rat". Startled Jolleth cast shocking grasp which caused a small bolt of electricity to hit the assassin square in the chest. The assassins heart must have stopped because the man slumped over holding his chest. He was dead! Jolleth rushed out of the guild into the street were a priest ran up to him and asked him what the commotion was. Jolleth wiped the tears from his eyes and studdered, "A man tri.. tried to kill me but he is now dead." The priest looked at him sadly, "Run to Gorion, you must begin your journey at once."

Jolleth was not the best listener and did not heed the priests advice but went to the bunk house to say farewell to another friend. No, friend was to be found but another assassin. This one survived Jolleth's shocking grasp, so Jolleth had to run to the other side of the room. When he had placed enough distance bertween him and the assassin he hurled a stone from his sling which hit the second assassin square in the forehead. The thief fell backwards and did not move. That was enough for Jolleth and he ran for the steps of the library to meet Gorion. On his way he bumped into Imoen his long time friend. They chatted for a bit before Jolleth went to meet Gorion on the steps of the great library. "Are you prepared boy", the old mage inquired. "I am ready to go.", Jolleth quipped. With the events that passed in the day Jolleth was anxious to get out of town. So together Gorion and Jolleth started out on road, which would only lead to greater adventure for Jolleth and the means to uncovering a dark secret about himself.

Night was approaching and they were only six hours outside Candlekeep when Gorion abruptly stopped. "Something is very wrong" said Gorion. Out of the trees came a huge man, several Ogres and another person who was probably a priest or mage of some sort. "Hand over your ward." said the tall dark figure. Gorions response was "Come and claim him fiend." All hell broke lose and Jolleth was hit with a blast of energy from the priest which sent Jolleth hurdling into the underbrush. Semi-conscious, Jolleth could see the battle and Gorion was doing very well. Gorion had already dispatched the priest and the Ogres, but the dark figure who called himself Severok was still alive. Gorion was given Severak a beating but then the inevitable happened, Gorion used his last spell and had to go for his dagger. Gorion was no fighter and the outcome was predictable. Severok plunged his huge sword through Gorion's chest and there Jolleth's step father died. Jolleth was now alone, all alone. Before drifting into unconsciousness Jolleth heard Saverok say, "I will find you brother, and I will slay you. This is my destiny and mine alone." Then Jolleth puzzled at what those words could mean, saw only blackness.

The next morning Jolleth awoke far away from the battle how he got here he had no idea. Then the realization hit him, Gorion was dead and he broke down and cried. Moments later he heard a voice shouting out his name. He recognized that it was Imoen and he composed himself rather quickly. He was a man of course and allowing anyone to see him weep may be considered sign of weakness. After talking with Imoen they decided to search the battlefield for clues as what they should do next. They approached the battlefield and has they came through some trees they came face to face with a black bear. Normally these creatures are quite peaceful and do not attack but you do have to let it have its space. It lunged for Jolleth but Imoen fired a arrow from her trusty bow allowing Jolleth to move away. The bear then turned viciously on Imoen but Jolleth fired a stone at the bear, the attack from both sides made the bear confused and angry but it could not decide who to attack. It is a good thing these beast posses no great intelligence because a swipe of his paw would have split either Jolleth or Imoen in half.

Upon reaching the battle field they found a note on Gorion's body that suggested going to the fieldpost inn to meet friends Kahlid and Jaheria. Jolleth did remember Gorion mentioning it but had brushed it aside at the time. So Imoen and Jolleth continued their journey west ward towards the Inn. On their way they encounter a wolf and several gibberings. The wolf was a tough battle because of its quickness so both Imoen and Jolleth got plenty of exercise running. The gibberings were easily dispatched however. They also passed a couple strangers a tall mage, and a halfling. This couple did not look like they could be trusted so both Imoen and Jolleth passed by without saying a word.

When they reached the fieldpost Inn they were awestruck but its fortifications. The fieldpost inn was more than an Inn for travellers it was a fortress, with houses, and a temple, so it was like a small town within the walls. The Inn itself was at the centre of the town and was by far the largest building. Obviously many travellers stopped here either going to or from Baldur's Gate. A guard stopped them and warned then not to cause any trouble. The guard also proudly proclaimed "I am a member of the KAK so let me know if you see any Kobalds, there seems to be an infestation of them to the south." Jolleth responded with delight because of the thought of using shocking grasp on a kobold, "I will keep that in mind." Jolleth wondered what could possibly go wrong in such a well guarded fortification. As he was pondering his thoughts they started towards the inn.

As they approached the stairs of the inn a stranger came down to meet them. "Could this be Kahlid?", Jolleth wondered to himself. The stranger started to ask Jolleth questions in a very rude fashion. The stranger a mage became aggressive and started to cast a spell but Jolleth was quicker. The mage obviously underestimated Jolleth for standing so close to him. Jolleth cast shocking grasp before the mage could finish his spell. "Agh!!", screamed the mage as his spell casting was interrupted. By this time the guards had arrived and Imoen and started firing arrows. Another shocking grasp and two magic missiles later the mage was dead. Jolleth had no doubt that the mage could have finished either himself or Imoen with a single magic missile but that was not to be on this night.

Finally arriving inside the inn they looked for the companions they were supposed to meet. It was difficult because of the crowd and noise as people were merrily drinking their ale. In the inn they discovered that a house in Bergost was infested with spiders, and and Ogre was in the area that had a fondness for girdles. On a lighter note some strange fellow mistakenly thought Jolleth was a maid and gave him his pants to wash much to Kahlid and Jaheria's amusement. At least Imoen only snickered keeping in her laughter. The next morning Jolleth told Imoen to stay at the Inn because he was were worried for her safety. So Jolleth departed the Friedly Arm with Khalid and Jaheria. They stopped by a house on the way out to find out that a lady had lost her ring to some hobgoblins. It would be a minor delay but the party decided it would be worth retreiving the ring.

After several hours there was not a hobgoblin left near the Friendly Arm and the party had some time to kill. Jaheria suggested hunting down the Ogre but Khalid was not so sure. He hesitantly said, "Are, are you sure honey, I mean Ogres are huge scary things so we must approach this with caution". Heading to the south Jolleth spotted a twinkle on the ground and picked up a ring. "Hmm, I wonder what this is. I will have to get it examined at the next available opportunity. It looks like a powerful ring though". Little did he know he had just picked up the ring of wizardry to double his first level spells.

They found the Ogre near a caravan that had obviously been sacked by bandits. The Ogre charged screaming "I will take Girdles, I will crush". Jaheria and Jolleth fired a volley of stones and Khalid waited patiently until he could engage in melee. When the melee began Jaheria picked up her club to melee as well. Jolleth snuck up behind the ogre so he could shock the Ogre not once but twice. The Ogre fearing for his life started to run for the hills but Jaheria who was somewhat injured picked up her sling and fired a stone to finish the Ogre. Then it was back to the friendly arm to return the ring and girdle to the rightful owners. After the good deeds were done, and little healing it was off to Bergost.

In Bergost they met a member of BOYD in the Feldepost Inn who was really drunk. "Adopt a Kobold lad, Adopt a Kobold or else". Khalid told Jolleth "The harpers are aware of these fanatics, let us handle this." Both Khalid and Jaheria both defended themselves from the BOYD member when he attacked them for no reason except refusing to adopt. Jolleth found it odd that they would be attacked for refusing to adopt a Kobold but that is the way of things on the coast. They found the house infested with spiders and went in. Khalid was terrified but Jaheria cast Entangle and Jolleth want up to each spider and used shocking grasp to fry each one. Looks like the spell works well on spiders as well as Kobolds.

When looking around town the party met up with a bard named Garrick. Garrick requested the parties services for his employer, Silke. It seemed like a reasonable request so the party met Silke and offered to protect her. Just as they were done talking several guys show up to offer something to Silke but she goes crazy and demands the Jolleth kill them. She lied so this angered Jolleth and in losing his temper releases a magic missile at Silke. Silke put up a fight but dies on Khalid's blade. Jolleth takes Silke's staff as a souvenir and wishes Garrick the best of luck, as this current party as no need for him. The party then decides to return to the Friendly Arm Inn to return the goods found in the spider infested home.

Upon returning to the Friendly Arm Inn and delivering the items to the owner from the spider infested home Jaheria expresses her dissatisfaction of not reaching Nashkel yet. She gives Jolleth a toung lashing but after a good nights rest she seems herself again. Heading towards Naskel they pick up a note off the body of a halfling so they make a detour back to Bergost to deliver the note to Marianne. Marianne is so grateful upon receiving the news of her husband she offers Jolleth a ring of protection. Jolleth is fearful of Jaheria's wrath as they have been delayed yet again. Finally on the road to Nashkel they met a hunter, Bub Snikt who thinks he knows everything about hunting the beast that the party may meet so offers to join. So Jolleth, Bub, Jaheria, and Khalid head to Naskel.

Bub Snikt is a DSotSC character his stats are really not that good for a fighter. I don't think he has much time for Kobalds so he would be KAK. I will probaly drop Khalid, and Jaheria and use Bub as my tank just because I have never used him before.
