I have been a zonealarm fan for quite some time, and it was the first security suit that I paid alot of money for, but a few months ago I installed Nortan security suit which came with my fancy motherboard and haven't looked back!

I bought 2 copies of Norton Systems Works with a degree of regret. It does make things slower and is not user friendly. There's also no tech support, try phoning some time, you'll see. You think a big company like that would have ____ together.

Oooookay...let's try this another way. I will post the actual warning from the website, though some of you will still not read what it says and will continue to tell me which antivirus you think is the best. [img]smile.gif[/img]

We regret to announce that there was a virus found in the last CO patch 4321. As a result, many of our players' computers may have been affected. The virus shows up in the form of a _desktop.ini file in the Conquer 2.0 folder, under C3/0003/611 and c3/0003/741. In other words, if you look at your CO directory and see a file named C3/0003/611/_desktop.ini or C3/0003/741/_desktop.ini, you are confirmed to have been infected. The file may be hidden so you need to turn off the 'Hide hidden file' and 'Hide protected operating system file' options under Tools->Folder Options-> View Unfortunately, most of the current anti-virus programs including Norton and Kasparsky etc, failed to catch this virus. This is how the virus has slipped through our QA's detection. The only confirmed tool to catch this virus so far is McAfee VirusScan Plus. This is a very malicious virus, so please follow the procedures below to delete this virus as soon as possible.

I find Ewido to be amazing. It's now AVG anti-spyware (it catches everything though). The free version has caught and cleaned desktophijackers and virii that no other scanner could catch (except panda). It is also compatible with most mainstream scanners like Norton and Mcfee allowing you to use it alongside them. Honestly, I dumped the rest and stuck with this one alone...it has a liveguard anyways...

Panda is great too but the good version costs cash.

Anyways, it's strange that an obscure virus scanner such as McAfee PLUS would pick it up and none others.

Glad you got your stuff sorted out, though I hope the Conquer guys give a better explanation on how it happened....

Avast is a good virus catcher, since Kapersky is no longer free for its updates, at least last I heard it wasn't. Norton, what a waste of space...easier to cure viruses with a bowling ball.
