I recently opened Internet Explorer to find a C:\searchpage.html as my start page. If i change my start page in Tools it will just change back to this. I deleted the file from my C: drive but it comes back. So im guessing there is something else running somewhere on my harddrive.

I already ran Ad Aware and it didnt help.

Can anyone offer any help?

Run spybot S&D as well. Between the two of them, you should be covered.

Also, since it's setting that as your start page, instead of deleting it, replace it. Most likely, if it doesn't see the page there, it puts it there.

I said it before and I say it again: Get Mozilla Firebird!
Tons better than IE, you will thank me in the end!

In Spybot, under 'Immunize', uncheck the box labelled 'lock IE start page from change (this user)'.
Tyrion, when talking about the best browser currently in existance, get it's name right: it's Mozzilla Firefox. Thunderbird is the mail program.

FYI Mozilla Firefox (current version 0.8) is a freeware stand alone internet browser, whereas Mozilla Thunderbird (current version 0.5) is a freeware stand alone E-mail client.

Or if you prefer the bundled version (browser + E-mail client), you can download Mozilla (current version 1.7). It is free too.

All of them can be downloaded from http://www.mozilla.org/

[addition]
Note that Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox are two different variations of the browser, therefore some skins might not work with one or the other. (It is also quite rare to have skins that works for both the versions). The same goes for Mozilla and Mozilla Thunderbird.

You need to run it in advanced mode IIRC. Look beside the quikstart IE in the bar along the bottom of your screen, a quicklaunch icon should be there.
