Homeland Security had increased our Terrorist Risk to ORANGE. I work in a Federal Government/DOT building, so this has meaning for me. The security presense has increased and the checks are more thorough. This was recently on the news, so I think it is ok for me to tell.
For those who don't know the levels are: Green LOW Yellow Guarded Gold Elevated Orange High Red Severe I can only wonder if it is related to the Naples terrorist cell that Rokenn posted about. I almost want to go home, and get out of this public target, but that would mean the bastards beat me, and scared me out, so I'll stay here and take whatever they have for me! We're at DEFCON2! <- Not really, but it matches our security level.

Yeah, DEFCON - I've thought that ever since the color system was implemented.

Oh well. Doesn't mean anything to me. I work in a highrise building. I'm sure that if some of Osama's boys want to try and crash a plane into it, there isn't a whole lot I'm going to be able to do about it. So it really doesn't mean much to me. I think the only reason they post that color scheme is so the man on the street gets the idea they are doing something. Don't get me wrong. I'm sure they have stopped many attempted attacks since 9/11, but I just don't thing it means a whole lot. I'm sure not going to change anything I do!
I thought MSNBC had a hilarious VOTE/POLL on the website. It asked the question How are you going to respond? http://www.msnbc.com/news/869630.asp?0cv=CA01#survey 68% agreed with me and aren't going to change anything.

Just hang in there guys. Ordinarily our isolation is our best defense down here in NZ, but in mid-march I'll be staying in Los Angeles for a week or so, so I feel your apprehension. But as you all have said, if you restrict your ways in response to the threat, the terrorists already have you on the run. Stand firm lads!
And if it's any consolation, if my plane gets highjacked I won't just sit there twiddling my thumbs. I'll do my utmost to kung fu the bastards into submission!

You can choose to live in fear or you can live your life and just learn to pay attention to detail and have some situational awareness instead of just going through life in an oblivious state.
I would like to say that condition orange was named after a vietnam vet of hollywood fame, Agent Orange he looks remarkably like Eddy Murphey |

No Fear.
I'm not afraid to die. If I had the choice, I would choose to keep my freedoms than live without them. I refuse to let the Badguys win. Mark |
