I've got a problem that's stopping me from finishing the game.
Everytime I answer Neb's question and escape from jail there are swarms of guards waiting and I am immediately re-arrested. Does anyone have a solution?

At the moment, I cannot remember what needs to be done...
Give me a bit, and I will get back with you, or hopefully, somebody else will jump in and save you.
(I remember something about going undergound as soon as possible, and that helped evade the authorities...but there is something I am missing still...)

Pause as soon as you can, and look for a way into the sewers. Then, un-pause and use whomever is wearing the Boots of Speed to run by the guards. When they give chase, Pause, and Order the rest of the party to the sewers.

When they are at the stairs (YOU MUST GATHER YOUR PARTY BEFORE VENTURING FORTH),, run back and go down, down, down.

You will need to use the sewers to get around now. Guards are looking for you.

I pick pocketed a Cloak of Charisma or something of the nature off a fat guy named Algernon on the second floor of the Friendly Arm Inn. It lets you charm ANYTHING (granted they fail their save and they are living creatures) for an unlimited amount of times. Once the person is charmed you have control over them until the spell wears off (pretty long). This thing is EXTREMELY useful and can make any "impossible" fight much easier. Once you have the guards charmed, move them away from your party and continue as usual. Since they will be considered in your party you should only select your normal party members to move or else the guards follow you. Good Luck!

I thought Algernons cloak was in the Feldepost inn in Beregost.
Try using entangle on those flaming fist guys.

Yeah youre right dreamer, its in the feldepost inn in beregost. you could get a little quest later in BG city about this cloak, but its not worth it, its better to use it, cause its a very good item (it has like 65.000 charges !!!)

I believe that if you go back down to the first level, you will find a trapdoor into the basement. If you go down there, I think (IIRC) that there is a secret door down there that leads to the sewers. This allows you to avoid the flaming fist guards. You *will*, however, have to fight the guards on the first floor. I don't believe that whacking those guys affected my reputation.

Now where did I leave that doughnut?!

I have allways used wands of sleep to deal with the guards.
