I dont know why everyone is trying to cheat their way into killing him. hes not so tough.
Just gear minsc (or whoever your tank is) up with a ton of weapons, 2 rings of fire protection and the red dragon helm and that old firebreath will act as a much needed heal and while he keeps firkraag busy pound away with spells, and in my case (arrows from my archer) to eff him up. result, one VERY gratifying battle. |

There are many ways off offing old red without cheating, yours sounds good too!

my reasoning behind doing it this way was to prove a point to a friend who is currently unable to beat the black dragon but in his own words "had no problem" with firekraag while doing the massive cloudkill/fog of war attack. I just HAD to print screen of all six of my living, and only slightly injured party.
