You should consider getting back those click banners. They dropped you cuz noone was clicking on them - the truth is I didn't even know they existed. AS I said before, if you get them back and people click them at least once per visit you'd be sorted.

If you find one, Z, definitely put it on the forum proper as well/instead of the main page of IWG. Most people I think have the forum itself bookmarked, and I admit I only rarely remembered to actually go to IWG and click on the banner there. If it's on the forum index page then a lot more people will click on it

A little incentive. I personaly dont need incentive, I just cant afford it.
This idea was discussed before and caused a LOT of upset emotions on the board. Several members felt that it would be creating a "caste system" that created different status levels for different members. Although I personally saw no problem with it, there were a LOT of hurt feelings over the mere suggestion of such a thing. Just discussing the idea caused a lot more problems than it was worth.
Well maybe this is worth revisiting now, as long as we can discuss it in a calm and reasonable manner. The reality is that we have a difficult financial situation and we need to explore all options to keep IW going. We need to start thinking about this pragmatically and go through our options, unpalatable though some of them might be. The alternative is that we shut down, and none of us want that.

As for myself, I'll send something through mid-next month, Dan - that's when payday is.

I really wish there was a way we (people not old enough to have a bank/pay pal account) could help...I love this forum and really wish I could pull my weight.

Hi Ziroc,

I want to help you ( I am currently searching a way to make a donation from Germany without making a second "donation" to the bank ). I really wouldn't like it to send creditcards informations through the web ( I'm a suspicious about that ) but this is a great Forum and I want to see it survive so if I don't find another way I think I'll join Paypal .

P.S. Do you pay 400 Dollars a month, three months or in a year ? Maybe it's a silly question, but I really don't know .

Greetings

We got a few days, so who knows, maybe we will make it, I still have a bit of hope left It's not Dec 5th YET!

Thanks,
Ziroc,

Posted above is the exact reason I will not donate to the site. This does not show me that any action is being taken to correct the financial problems. It actually shows me that any contribution I may make could be in vain. This same post appears every month around the same time. How long before the contributors fail to pay the bills? How long until a few get tired of carrying the weight of many?

Its time to realize that running a site this large is a business as such; it has to be run as a business. You cannot cater to the needs of everyone, because if you try you will go under and everyone will lose.

Look at the situation realistically. If you created a membership program that charged $4.00 per YEAR, all expenses would be paid assuming less than 10% of the community decided to take part. Is that really asking too much from people?

Leave General Discussion as an open post forum. Change all the others to view only unless a member.

I can understand the situation some people are in that limits the amount of money they have to spend, but if you are paying for Internet service, you can afford $4.00 per year. Set up subscriptions in 3 mo., 6 mo., and 1-year blocks. That way people could choose what is good for them. All the kids can get a subscription for a year for their birthday or Christmas. I highly doubt any parent would deny a $4.00 stocking stuffer subscription if asked.

You stated yourself; it is worth running a site for people who do not care? My question for you would be, “Is it fair for a few who care about the site to pay for the many that visit?”

Solve the financial problem in a realistic manner and I’ll be one of the first to offer my contribution. I cannot be a contributing factor to an ongoing problem such as how things are now.

@ Ziroc:

I think you should try Maelakin's suggestion (if everything else fails).

I'd become a member because I really like this place. It's great. It would be a shame to loose it, because of lack of support from the members.

I do agree with what was stated above with having a $4.00 subscription fee..it's barely more than a penny a day, and as also stated I'm sure parents would love to get away with a $4.00 present that the kid would use more than say an ornament or something like that.

Think about it.
