The Hobbit Movie
The Movie has been announced and due to release sometime in 2010. It will be made into two pictures, consecutively filmed. It looks like Guillermo del Toro will be the director, but not all of the paperwork has been signed yet so perhaps there's stil hope. MGM and New Line Cinema will be producing the movies, along with Wingnut and Peter Jackson. So Jackson will still have a hand in the making of the Hobbit.
Now all this news is a little old, so it might have been changed already, and currently no one has been cast yet. I just hope the movie isn't in subtitles.

Re: The Hobbit Movie
IMO there is two ways to make this movie, light and trivial playing on the child like humor of the scenes like the spider or the troll fights or they could go for the dark horror and gore and make the spiders creepy, the vanishing lights of the elves spooky and the battle of the five armies gruesome.
I just hope they don't fall between two stools.

Re: The Hobbit Movie
I think a stool in the middle of the two would be perfect

Re: The Hobbit Movie
The trouble with that Variol is that it so often fails, only a top class director and editor can get the balance right. What does everybody else think?

Re: The Hobbit Movie
Well in Peter Jackson they would have access to a great director, I would think he could do it, but was it NLC who had a falling out with him, and how much would they let him do?
