I keep getting this message when I try to log in to another forum I visit.

You were unable to Login. Please check your cookie settings.

I reset my security level and even re-started my PC, but I still can't login to this forum. Exactly WHAT cookie settings am I supposed to check? Do I need to just delete ALL the cookies in the cookie file and start over? Please help.

The problem can come both from the browser cookie settings or firewall cookie settings, and even some antivirus programs. Have you checked those?

I hate all that cookie stuff. I don't know what it is but it seems to cause more trouble than good.

Variol, cookies are files that store information from a site. When you login it'll keep your password and user name so it knows that the computer it's talking to is used by you.

If you put the security in the browser at lowest level you should be able to login. The only thing that otherwise prevents it is your firewall or perhaps programs that block certain sites cause they're known to have spy/adware in it. Which browser are you using, Cerek?

I'm using Mozilla Firefox as my browser and have my internet security level set on "HIGH". I've been able to access this forum with the Firefox browser, although I have had this problem occur before since switching from IE.

I reset the internet security to "MEDIUM" but still couldn't access the forum.

I'm using my back-up PC (again ) because I think the power supply got fried in my main PC (sheesh, I've had nothing but trouble from that machine for close to a year now).

I'm really at the point to where deleting all the cookies seems to be about the only viable option. Any other suggestions would be welcome.

What's so bad about deleting all cookies in IE? I don't know if you run a lot of antispyware, cause there's bound to be stuff in there.

Check if you can get in with lowest internet security. Check for spyware and adware after that though.

I've had some cookie problem with Ironworks at some time too. It was solved by just deleting the cookies. In firefox it's easy to find the ones for your forum. In IE it might be harder but you can check out your cookies folder and see if you can find the proper ones for just the site you want.

Deleting all cookies and lowering Security to the lowest setting STILL didn't correct the problem. I simply can NOT get in to the other forum for some reason.

Don't trust Windows' labels as much as you are: "Internet Options" is actually "Internet Explorer and Outlook [Express] Settings" - Firefox uses it's own. In Firefox, go to Tools -> Options, and select 'Security'. Make sure that site is allowed to set cookies.
