Neither would win, both of their magics are sufficient to keep the fight going for long enough, to the point where they would be totally drained and it would end in a draw !

Indeed a fight between powerful people like that might take a little longer than any shootout between mere mortals. This enables third parties to become involved in the fight and tip the scales one way or the other.
My final verdict is that they would both die. ------------------ ---------------------- Ilvyn the Black Son Guardian of the Prime ---------------------- |

Have any of you guys ever read the book where Elminster battles the god Bane to a standstill and the backlash of power (from another event) destroyed Bane and sent Elminster plummeting through the planes.
This all happened during the time of Troubles so Elminster's will and command over magic can not be underestimated. He also could easily have become a god (Temptation of Elminster) but could not bring himself to kill Azuth. The battle with Bane is the only time I have seen Elminster really stretched. (Barring a few incidents in his youth) Cheers CW |

Mnemoch did not lie. Elminster is a cheesy over-poered character created by a munchkin player with a Monty Haul GM. Mnemoch didn't want you tainted with cheesyness |

i must say the best author of forgotten realms books is R.A.Salvatore i mean for one he created Drizzt and the ongoing dark elf series just kicks.
and between a fight between raistlin and anyone he would destroy them no probs. i mean i named my cat raistlin and he beats all the next door neighbours cats up |

The cat was Raistlin? Do you have a dog named Caramon or Fistandantilus too? And who chose the name?
. If a cat tries to become God, that would top Lord Raptor I should think |
