I know I'm new here, so I don't know if this should be elsewhere, but here goes:
I installed IWD2 a few days ago, and was playing happily. However, yesterday I started the game up, and things were..messed up to say the least. Everything was extremely pixelated (moreso on the bottom and top of the screen), so much so that most words could not be made out. There were also horizontal lines spaced out throughout the monitor, and I haven't a clue as to why this is happening. I managed to resolve this by running IWD2 in windowed mode, but that's extremely annoying. I also tried playing around with the configuration tool, messing around with the different resolutions, but to no avail. My only solution is windowed mode so far . System Specs: Dual P4 2.8 Ghz Processors 1024 DDR Ram GeForce Ti 4600 and a dual monitor set up (IWD2 would just run in one monitor while the other monitor'd be blank) Both monitors run at 1280x1024 resolution, and I had the game running at 1024x768 |

I have that exact problem, but because I play it in windowed mode 800x600 on desktop of 800x600. My guess was it had to shrink it to make room for the Title bar. But your case, I dont know. Try setting your desktop to 1024x768, then running the game. Or try fullscreen with all the other res options. Maybe its the multi monitors messing it up. I have a 3 monitor setup at work, hence I hit all sorts of problems. I cant run anything "fullscreen" cuz it crashes stuff.

Horizontal lines? Is there not an option in the config menu that helps that? software belt or something like that, read the description!

Maybe in his case, but I assumed it was because I was running 800x600 window on a 800x600 desktop. So one would assume that would take up the full screen, but it doesnt because its a hint shorter than a full screen including the room necessary for the titlebox. So I figured it squished it to make room.

Seems I can only "unlock" 1024x768, and I tried making both monitors 1024x768 (messed up all my icons you bastards) and it still doesn't work, although I do get the horizontal lines when I go down to 1024x768, so now I'm thinking it IS something with the resolutions.

At home I can only get 1024x768 because I have one of the earlier trinitron monitors. At home fullscreen for any res works fine. I dont recall if ive tried window mode 1024 with my desktop at 1024, but I know 800 window on the game on my 1024 desk is fine.

The two I have are both Samsung SyncMaster191T Plus monitors, so I dunno. I tried all combinations I could think of, without getting things too big so that they're squished, making it unreadable (of course this only means I can go down to 1024x768 but.. ) Running in windowed mode is a pain

I play in windowed mode for work. I feel your pain. Just increase the scroll speeds for the keyboard and its not that bad.
Try disabling/unplugging one monitor and see how the game runs then. |

Well, just installed WarCraft III on this machine as well, turns out it IS a resolution problem, I had to go to options and change it to the 1280x1024, and Icewind Dale doesn't support that res for me, so windowed mode it is No clue why it was working fine the first times...

Nods. Computers are funny. and 1280x1024 isnt a standard setting, so expected to not be in everything. Ratio is always 4:3. That one you got there isnt kosher.
Have you tried with only 1 monitor? New 3dcard drivers? I dunno bro. Windowed mode isnt TOO bad. |
