High level special abilities not working? Bug?

Hey everyone,

I started getting the high level special abilities near the end of SoA when my main turned lvl 18. Since then everyone has been getting the options for the special abilities (whirl wind attack, power attack, summon celestial deva... etc)

Now all of my fighter characters (myself now 21st lvl Cavalier, Keldorn at 21st, Sarevok at 21st) have the special abilities in their special abilities button.

My spell casters (Imoen at 18th lvl mage 7th lvl Fighter, Aerie 17/15 Cleric Mage, and Jaheira at about 15th druid and 14th fighter I believe) don't seem to be able to use their abilities. Do they need to be a certain level? I thought at least Imoen at 18th lvl would be able to use her special abilities by now.

Any help would be appreciated. I only have the original game installed with Throne of Bhaal, no other add ons or mods.

The spell casting HLA's, like that dragon fire spell and the energy blades are extra spells. The wizard or cleric has to memorize them like a normal spell. Check on the ninth page of the mage book or the seventh page of the scroll for them.

Ahh. IC. Well I'll make sure by selecting a combat related ability.

Sucks that the fighters get a permanent once a day quickslot and the mages and clerics have to memorize a spell like any other.

Dundee is right. The mage HLAs are insanely powerful, so they are definately worth using up a spell slot for. If you're a sorceror, they are even more useful. Just mix an improved alacrity with a time stop and you're all set
