Ravenloft Game (open for now)

ok this is a request for a 2nd edition AD&D game taking place in ravenloft, the purpose is for halloween, I need at least 4 to 7 players (more are welcome) with 20,000 experience points total (multiclass characters have 10,000 exp in each class, or roughly 7,000 for a triple class character) that will put the average party level at 5-6. Characters will be human, if you'd like a nonhuman character talk to me first.

The characters will in most cases be from Ravenloft (I will help you decide on which domain your character would be from, ie elves will most likely be from Sithicus as would kender, most other demihumans would be from Darkon while humans can be from almost anywhere)

You may use BG1 or 2 character templates and kits (with an 85 point max on your stats) put the information you want on your character sheet and email it to me, if you like you can use characters from the Octagon or Pit or Rapisdere if you participate in that thread. (All classes are allowed)

I allow 1st or second edition characters (if 3rd edition is the only rulebooks you have access to check these AD&D Downloads.

I will be DMing, you will not create NPC's on your own, you may roll your own dice if you have them, for attacks and hitpoints for leveling, otherwise I will run all battles and make skill (proficiency) checks, mages feel free to pick your own spells, clerics if you choose a forgotten realms deity I have the information on restrictions they place on spellcasting.

I will be more than happy to volunteer my time to help you get a character straight if you don't have rulebooks, I've got a cratefull and will be happy to check on any rule I can't cite from memory

for those knowledgeable about Ravenloft, the timing is post grand conjunction, but pre-requiem (the events causing Darkon to become Necropolis, and Azalin's disappearance, and the subsequent arising of Death)

to put it simply Ravenloft is the Domain of Dread, it is a demiplane adrift in the ethereal plane, a pocket world if you will, however it is governed by sinister "Dark Powers" that tempt mortals, and immortals alike, it is an evil that twists all that it encounters, places of unholy evil abound and unspeakable horrors await any who dare to tread within. The most wicked creatures alive are given vast powers and mastery over many living (and unliving) things inside their area, or domain, the "darklords" ruling these lands have near absolute control over everything inside, some have the power to control all wild beasts, weather, or raise undead without limits (Azalin, lord of Darkon can raise any amount of undead at any time, for any purpose), or any other thing imaginable, it was founded in RY 351 by Strahd Von Zarovich, a lord of a small kindom who feared his aproaching old age and the weakness it would bring, as well as covetting Tatyana (sp?), his brothers peasant love, he made a pact with "death" a being believed to be the first appearance of the dark powers in any world. He would slay his brother on his wedding night and drink his blood, and in return he would be granted immortality, and the love of Tatyana, he carried out his part becoming his lands first vampire (evidence has easily shown that other realms like forgotten realms and greyhawk had vampires before he was born), but Tatyana saw him for the horrible monster he was and threw herself off of a cliff rather than be with him, that night his land was wrenched from it's home world and formed the basis of Ravenloft, over time other demesnes have been created when sufficiently evil beings existed within, or when evil beings were drawn into Ravenloft and proved themselves worthy, in fact it is possible for a player character to be drawn down a dark path and become a lord of one of these domains, the lords however are each plagued by a curse specific to them and cannot leave their realm, ever.

If you wanted a short answer, Ravenloft is the castle where Strahd resides

for some halloween-ish fun, very dark and gothic horror type stuff, I'm sure Elif will be happy to warn you about the kind of things not to do. and the characters will be native so not everything will be a horrifying surprise.

I'll play a Human Cleric, by the name of Ter. He got whisked away to this world, buy the mysterious mists, and is just looking for a way home, he is lawful neutral. I've been thinking about starting a Ravenloft game for a while, but I didn't think we had the interest here. I am glad somone took the initiative, it should be a fun campaign, which lord's realm are we going to be in, Strahd's? I've played in his, the Dark knight's one, I forget his name now, and the one of the mummy, I forget his name as well; anyways all were a good time as I imagine this to be.
