Being called a 'chick' (makes me want to peep)

Being called 'the old lady' (wife), 'broad' (am not!), or 'her' (as if I didn't understand or qualify for the courtesy of direct address)

....seemed on topic to me

My girlfriend likes when I call women broads, I think it is a personal choice, not really a common gripe =P

I don't really understand the "her (as if I didn't understand or qualify for the courtesy of direct address)" bit. I don't take offense when referred to as him. English is a language of pronouns, should we not use them?
