The best explanation I can think of is that some of the geometry calculations are handled differently, either by a different processor (pentium vs. AMD e.g.) that makes handles floating point numbers just a bit differently, which might in this case just be critical, or that some of these operations are done on the graphics board with similar differences. In the latter case switching to software mode should fix the problem. That might also explain why the game is that sensitive about the supported graphics cards.

Si also sent me his save game. I was stuck the first two times I attempted the shaft and finally made it through by exiting the temple dungeon and re-entering it to reload the data set.
BTW, my processor is a Celeron 533 and I always run the game in software mode. Go figure. Rick |
