One of the characters in my party is a multi-classed Cleric/Ranger. Whenever she casts Chant, she can't cast other spells until the Chant wears off. (The remaining spells in the spell bar are all greyed out).
Why is this so? in BG2 I could cast other spells after casting chant.

I haven't played BG2 yet, but in the IWD guidebook it says you can't cast spells after casting chant. I guess you're too busy chanting.

yeah, this is one of IWD's idiosyncracies......much like the way Burning Hands can actually fan out and hurt your own guys.....

Certain spell's require you to concentrate on them. To maintain
the potency of the spell. It makes more sense in PnP because you
can stop it ie break your concentration/chanting. Spells like
burning hand's have a range to them it doesnt focus just on the target. as it say's "fan's out from the caster's finger's"

My Gnome Cleric/Illusionist had the same problem. That is until we went in the Lizard Caves and he leveled-up to a 5th level Cleric (while still being a 4th level Illusionist.) Now I can cast Chant and then still cast other spells. I don't know if it's a bug or a level thing. It's bizarro anyway.

In BGII, it allows you to cast other spells. Try to use recitation and those other ones, they allow you to cast spells.
