Welcome to the Board, ShawnXilla!!!!

Three different machines....But two..will not run,
....If we..get all three running....Will that triple, the Fun?

A couple of important stats are missing from your post....Both could cause the promblems, you are having.....So we'll start there.

1. Video card drivers....are they the latest? Here's a link for the nVidia card nVidia...(If this works...you'll have to hunt down the latest driver for the other card)

2. DirectX version....WW requires (a minimum) of DX 7.0...(I don't recall which version 98 came with)....To find out which version your machines are running...Click on the Start button --> select Run and type in --> dxdiag. It will be near the bottom of the page.
If they need to be updated....Heres a Link...DirectX

I would start with machine "A".....and let us know if it works....

I know what your talking about man, it's a memory problem (I think), you need to free up hd space. I got my nice new shiny 7200 rpm hd and fully installed everything to get mad performance, then I uninstalled half of them so I could play the others. Check your virtual memory manager and make sure you have over 500 meg free and that it's on auto. I stuffed round for a while on my old hd setting it low to save space, don't bother, more trouble than it's worth. Course I could be wrong so don't delete anything important.

Actually putting your virtual memory to auto can slow down your computer. It´s better to slam in a big number (I use 1Gb for instance) as min and then the same as max. That way you´ve got a large enough swap file for every game so far (I think) without Windows having to make any calculations.

Welcome to the boards, ShawnXilla. May you find adventure and excitement to surpass your wildest dreams in the Gael Serran.

You've already got the good tips. Drivers, virtual memory, directX... I run on Win 98 (now Win98 second edition), and have no real problems (at least, that can't be attributed to a Windows install that probably needs to be wiped and refreshed).

One other thing to consider: defragging the hard drive. Can't hurt, and it might help. All that's buried in the Tech Help thread.

Shawnxilla and everyone else having trouble playing W&W on Windows98. Due to a mistake by me, a solution for win98/ME dropped out of the index in the tech thread. I had forgotten a " in a link that´s all. May I suggest a visit to the new tech thread and check out entry 6.8. You can simply click the link in the index and you´ll be taken there. There´s a solution there for win98. It can´t hurt to try it out
