If you can swing it, I would recommend the Geforce 2 GTS or Ultra. The Ultra is the faster of the two but with the G4's coming to market the prices of these older cards will drop big time The GTS and Ultra both compare VERY favourably with the G3 as far as frame rates are concerned. In fact the Ultra acually beat the G3 in some benchmarks even though just by a smidgen. Smidgen is the key word there because none of the G3s new features or technology got any airtime in the tests.

If you can swing it, go with the Ultra, but if you cant, try to get a GTS both are still awesome cards

The radeon 7500 is better than the GF2 series. If you can swing it, save up a little bit and get a Radeon 8500 LE card for around $80-100. The 8500 is much better than either the 7500 or any of the GF2 cards.

Very true that the ATI R7500 is better than EVERY Geforce2 card EXCEPT the Geforce2 Ultra. Depends on how much you want to spend.

For a quick look at how the cards stack up in Quake 3 benchmarks look here http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/...charts-03.html

Too bad you don´t live closer! I have a GeForce 2 GTS 32 MB to sell for very little money!

I would hmm, prolly go with the GeForce card since I have good experience with thoose cards in general.

I have an Ultra (which I bought as soon as they came out for $1000 Australian dollars)

It has been absolutely fantastic. No complaints from me. I've never used a Radeon card, so I can't compare.

Avi.
