I just started and I would like to know how do you approach the enemy? Every battle so far has started in long range until the enemies get close to you. is there any way I can get in melee range first.

It is usually not possible to get to melee range before combat starts. You can shorten the distance by casting Chamelon. You can also use terrain to your advantage as long as the enemy is moving in your direction.
Generally you must either let the enemy come to you softening him up with ranged attacks or charge the enemy by running or walking. These icons are located in the lower right of your screen. |
