Absolutely!

The TotSC expansion can take up anywhere from about a 1/5 to a 1/4 of the total time for the game, and it's well worth it.

Durlag's Tower which is part of the expansion is one of the all-time best dungeon environment/quests ever designed for an RPG.

It is extremely difficult to complete as there is something like 7 or 8 total floors/levels that are infested with traps, treasure, and which also offers 3 or 4 major battles.

The TotSC also has (I think) three other farely big quests that you can choose to tackle.

It also fixes some of the bugs that accompany the 'Original Saga'.

So should you spend that extra $5 to $15 ?

Yes! If for nothing else, buy it for the experience of Durlag's Tower.

Of course you should!

Right now I am in Durlag's Tower - and I like it
Here are a lot of 'real' combat. Not just kobold swatting

Buy it, Install it (remember to install the latest patch too) and play it. You will not regret

Durlag's Tower was indeed.. should I say challenging place. I'm not going to spoil but especially those 'riddle-fights' on the 3rd (?) floor were very nice. And it is in my opinion one of the best dungeons in BG-series with WK and Bodhi's Gauntlet.
