I was wondering if yall could help me out. I'm wanting to get some new rpgs for the ps2 but so far the ones I have bought just havent been that great. So far I have FFX, Shadowhearts, BG: Dark Alliance, Wild arms 3, and Summoner 2. I dont really want to blow 40-50 bucks on sub par games so any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot

FFX was substandard for the Final Fantasy series, but still not what I would call sub-par. Wild Arms 3 was good also good so I'm trying to figure out your issue. Perhaps the inability to adapt to other styles of RPG gaming? At any rate Summoner 1 was far from it's true potential so I wouldn't have expected much better from it's sequal. If you were looking for RPG in Dark Alliance, you were sorely mislead. Shadowhearts I can neither agree nor disagree with your views on that game.

NOW!! to the useful stuff. If you can hold out a little bit longer, StarOcean: Till the End of Time will be out soon, and if you know anything about console rpgs you know that the StarOcean series is THE BEST.

At anyrate it all depends on what you're looking for in an RPG. But from your dislikes listed above, you make it sound like it doesn't exist.

Thanks for the help. I actually worded my question wrong because I didnt mean to come off unpleaseable, I guess I'm just a little disappointed in the PS2 RPGs so far as it seems they are putting more effort in just making a pretty game rather than a game full of depth an substance. FFX was a decent game but was just so easy it was ridiculus, Wild Arms was a good game but it was more a Zelda type adventure game than a RPG an oddly enough Summoner 2 was pretty fun. Shadowhearts is a good game, its like a dark mature FF game in my opinion. I guess I'm hoping they will come out with an rpg for ps2 that was as great as FF6 was on the SNES.

Are you forgetting that you can play all the old PS games on a PS2?
There are some really fun games in that catalog.

The Suikoden series, I&II being ps1 and III being ps2 are a great rpg series, with many minigames, 108 npcs to find to join your party, and multiple stories/endings. Great stuff, 100's of hours of entertainment.

I don't blame ya. most PS2 RPG comes from the Japan and not many westeners can adapt to easterners style of rpgs.

btw, playing PS games on PS2 may cause DRE problem. not recommeded.
