ok...ive been looking on here for like 4 hours now, the most i find is and XP cap remover for up to version 1.29...is there SOMETHING i can do with my version 1.62 NWN/SoU? id like to be able to get beyond 20 total levels...something besides putting more money into HotU cause frankly so far what with the lack of ANY help with the module toolset and the inabilty of the software to recognize the extent of my processors ability which has resulted in sluggish game play and a bleached out look to the whole thing, this has really turned out to be the worst gaming purchase ive ever made...id at least like to be able to play with bizarre combinations in what is to me a completely new RPing system
i apologize for the angry tone and stuff, but im getting really frustrated with this software that was so uber-hyped and it really has failed to get anywhere near the expectations. thanks for any help you can give. peace

In a word, no. Not in the way you would like. You can script the extra levels to unlock in SOU but you will not get the standard new feats, abilities, class-preferences and bonuses all associated with epic levels. The most you will get is HP. The worst you will get is game crashes. I'd say buy HotU but since your system can't handle SOU there is no chance it will the be able for the 3rd expansion.

damn. sucks to that. i just dont understand the necessity of having such a cap, i dont even really care about stuff for class levels above 20 but with multi class set up the way it is if i say want a fighter/mage/thief like in AD&D im either stuck forever at levels 7/7/6 or some variation of that or i gain experience slowly by leaving one class low and going up in the others...bleh. as to my system being unable to handle it, that i really dont unnderstand cause my processor is like 1.2 GHz and the recommended minimum is only 800 MHz and ive got 3 times the recommended RAM...anyway thanks for the help guess ill just get that leto thing and see if that can help do what i want. peace.

Whats your Graphics card? With a crap card, all the CPU and RAM in the world wont help.
Beyond that, something could be eating your cycles. Run adaware, spybotSD and a virus scan, and make sure you arent running anything major in the background. Your only 50% over minimum, so it wouldnt take much to cause some severe slowdown.

syconaut,
I'm running NWN, SOU and HotU on a 800 mhz P3 system with 512 Meg of ram and a voodoo5 5500. While the video is certainly not optimum, I have had NO system related problems. The game does get a big laggy in places but that is usually in areas where a large number of spell effects are running and/or large numbers of npcs are spawning. Friends who have systems as fast as 3.0 ghz are also affected in those areas as well. Following andrewas' post, I would check out my system further and make sure that you are not overtaxing the system by having things like Norton anti-virus running in the background. Check your video card drivers as well.

And sometimes sluggishness is a buggy artifact from the install.. on SOU for me there was the ruins closed pit that dragged my 2.4 to its "knees".. but after reinstalling (and another game) no more problems.
As far as module building - well thats both very complex AND relativly easy. There are several tutorials online for learing how to do just about everything. However with a bit of perserverence just about anyone can create a small world with treasure and monsters with the ability to create your own custom equipment (took me like 40 minutes with the toolsets wizards and NO HELP whatsoever, to figure out how to do this). and it is most certainly worthwhile to purchase HOTU - not the least of which is new feats, new exp. point cap, new classes, new effects.. and of course that most people will be updating their modules for HOTU online. |

Sure, if you can run it, but with the new graphics models, thats not a certainty and not worth the risk if you can't get SoU to run acceptably.

heh. i dunno it seems to be doing ok now...ive had a friend what knows about computers check it out and all seems well...it still gets kind of hung up at times but usually i can blame meself for that cause i try to do too many things at once and once i let it alone for a moment it settles down and goes back to normal...ive even gotten a start on my own module, though basically all im doing is creating the areas and NPCs and my friend is going to connect everything together to make it work

If you mean that shield like thingie below your username with the words 'Elite Waterdeep Guard' written over it, it's your avatar and it changes as your post count rises.
If you mean the pictures below the posts, like andrewas' with the skull and the axes, that a sig picture and to add one simply type where the XXXXX is the URL of the picture you want to add. Put this line where you wrote your sig (blood in the streets....). Note that there's a space between [IMG] and the first X, it shouldn't be there, I just added it to illustrate how you place an image. Edit: The image has to be uploaded to use it.
