diablo 2 can be looked at as a RPG (a bit dodgy but none the less a RPG)
my favourite RPG would have to be Planescape : torment it has the best story that i have ever seen.

Baldurs Gate Series. It is the only RPG I've tried.

It has to be a fantastic game if it is going to be better than the Baldurs Gate Series.

Oh, and welcome!
1. Baldur's Gate series
2. Planescape: Torment
3. Neverwinter Nights
4. Icewind Dale Series
5. Darkstone

LOL, there are a lot of best RPG threads, aren't there?

I'm with Mark (Skywalker)

Wizard and Warrior: great game though a little too linear

If you're looking for something less linear, go with Morrowind. It's just as good as W&W. But you'll need a 64mb video card to get a decent refresh rate.

Well, I haven't played many RPGs but I do think BG2 (SOA) is the best BG2 (TOB) was too combat-heavy, while BG1 was kind of slow (travelling between important areas was a drag).

As for NWN and Shadows of Undrentide, I enjoy them mainly for their toolsets. Maybe it's to do with my computer, cos the games seem to slow down incredibly and stick to the go-retrieve-something-and-come-back formula...

BG2, Fallout 1, Arcanum, Icewind Dale 2. BG1, ToB, and Planescape: Torment are awesome too. Icewind Dale got stupid pretty quick, I thought, not varied enough.
