HELL YEAH!!!!!

PJ said he was honored to be in the presence of the likes of the other directors, including Clint Eastwood and Sophia Coppola -- only AFTER apologizing for looking like a hobbit on the red carper.

Could somebody help me out with understanding the awards?

I do not understand first of all why they had to individually thank the Foreign Press? Who/what is that?

Also...what is the difference in this award and others? I mean,,,this one seemed to be really important...but what is a golden globe compared to others like Acadamy awards, Oscars, Viewers Choice, Grammy's, Emmy's, etc. I do not know all the names, but I know there is more than one award to win. So...what is the hype with all these types?

With my very limited knowledge, I think the different awards are as follows:

Golden Globe: Almost the same as Oscars but a little less glamor.

Academdy Awards: AFAIK, it is also known as Oscars. The highest achievements in the movie industry.

Viewers Choice: ???

Grammy Awards: The highest achievements in the music industry.

Emmy's Awards: The highest achievements in TV series/sitcoms... mostly American TV series, that is.

Paladin's Awards: Anything that I deemed good to watch/listen/bothered.

Most Golden Globe categories are voted for by foreign entertainment journalists working in Hollywood.

And the Foreign Press sponsors/runs the awards, AFAIK.

The Golden Globes mix movie and television awards, so an HBO original movie can compete with "Monster" or other movies. Michael Douglas got some sort of career achievementa award, and he talked about how nice it was to come together with television for an awards show.

Only because Lord of the Rings isn't allowed to win TV awards.

What do the LotR cast have to do to win an award, I wonder?
