Where does the "Greyhawk" world fit into the DnD world? Is it another plane? A different part of Toril?
I ask this because I am playing ToEE and it's a 'Greyhawk' game. Just want to know how it fits in with the 'Baldur's Gate' world.

It's a different world, nowhere on Toril. I don't know for sure whether or not it's a different plane or that it's in no way connected to the FR.

it's on Oerth!
it uses the DnD 3.5 ruleset, but it's its own plane. has nothing to do with FR. except... didn't BG2 have you meet a group of greyhawkers? was it in the planar sphere or when you used haerdalis' gem to jump planes? V***V [ 09-08-2005, 12:02 PM: Message edited by: vesselle ]

Right you both are. Greyhawk was one of the first, if not the first setting to be written up and adapted as an official setting.
But thanks to Planescape, all worlds are potentially linked. You just need a portal. Temple of Elemental Evil was actually written by Gary Gygax, and was also one of the first adventures you could buy to run in your pen and paper groups. At least I think so. I wasn't paying attention at the time. [ 09-08-2005, 01:41 PM: Message edited by: Lucern ] |

TOEE was originated by Gygax and crew, as was all of Oerth. I'm not real familiar with Oerth, but many of the artifacts going back to the original DMG are full of Oerth history -- Vecna was from Oerth, for instance.
And, Planescape was not the first way that planes could be linked. Manual of the Planes set out much of what you could get from the original DMG and MM's. Ravenloft is always fun -- and even has a land dominated by Vecna. Let's not forget Spelljammer. |
