nooo, you can have alot of best friends, and who knows, you may all become best friends together, I have had 4 best friends, we did everything together, go to the mall...bust out ex-boyfriends truck windows, drove down a road and wrecked......hmmm come to think of it......what were we thinking?????

When people meet either of us they always ask after the other. Our closeness is widely recognised by all the people we knock around with (most of whom go back 20+ years too) and is still recognised by people we may not have seen for years. Also we've only ever had one little tiff, I punched him, he punched me back, we shook hands and forgot it....we were 11. I don't know the "true" answer to the question but loyalty I think is the key. Loyalty, honesty all the things spoken in solemn vows in many ways but without the vows being spoken...just known almost. Earthdog said it all pretty well. I love my mate like a brother, indeed he is a brother. I've said this before but I'll say it again as for me it's a misnoma and also the reason I don't really believe in marriage per se. You might divorce a husband and you may divorce a wife, but you'll never divorce a true friend.
