I just did. Love it, and wish I could see Larry's face when he reads it. Check out the change in my sig.

Regin, sorry to hear that. In know exactly what you mean. A few years back an old friend (well, more of a brother of a friend) died of Meningitis. I hadn't seen him for absolutely ages but I used to know the guy quite well back in the day. You just don't know what to feel in that situation. Really weird.

Anyway, I am feeling a bit weird this evening without remembering that. I have just got back from my Dad's house, which was rather nice. Home cooked food for once instead of the usual student halls fair. But I feel a bit odd towards my Dad anyway. He is technically a bit of a git for the various things he has done, and he isn't the nicest person to know at times, but for some reason I still get on with him. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if I had met him and he wasn't my father, but probably not as much as I wonder what would have happened if he hadn't left my mother. I haven't seen him in 2 months, so today just bought back the ambiguity of the whole thing.

Anyway, how is everyone else?

Barry, I wouldn't worry about it. Most guys in their late teens and early twenties have problems with their fathers. It's part of the learning to be an autonomous adult. Of course, I don't know the man, but, chances are, when you get older you'll get along better.
Edit: "Thanks, Conan," she hollers to his retreating back

I just *almost* went totally off on a poster over on my thread about parental ethics! That kid had me going! (still seeing red!)

Like the new sig tag, Gala.

Hello everyone!

It's been awhile since I've stopped in. How's everyone been? Is there any fresh coffee?

I don' really know about this. I think there is a lot of that in it, but I have been starting to like him more over the last few years. And I realised what a bastard he was quite some time ago. It seems there is no rational explanation to like him, but I still do. Very odd. But I think you are right, as I get older I hope to respect him more, of not actually get on with him.

I suppose the biggest irony of the whole thing is that he left my mother for another woman, he left her with three kids aged 3-5 and she didn't have a job. But now he has just had his 10th wedding anniversary with my stepmother, who he left my mother for. And my mother has just passed the 6 year mark with my stepfather. Everyone is happy now, a lot happier than when they were married. Very odd, very very odd.
